And the women in the big hats nodded

Plenty of fatcats and their wives come out for the breaking ground and then the opening of the Pan-Pacific fair! One guy even gets a picture (gee, such a depressing picture to give at such a gay ceremony!) and plenty, and I mean, plenty of speeches are given! Problem is of course, that this is all silent, and theres not that many title cards to tell us whats going on. Like the cannons though. No idea what theyre doing there.

Panama-Pacific International Exposition, San Francisco, 1915. Award of plaque to sculptor of "End of the Trail" sculpture; speech; Governor Charles S. Whitman of New York plants tree with dirt from New York State; officials leaving St. Francis Hotel (San Francisco); flag-draped speakers' stand; Liberty Bell at one end; CU Liberty Bell; cannon firing salute; crowds; speakers; men by fountain and sign "Power to California"; more speakers; tree planting; Champ Clark pays tribute to builders of exposition; Woodrow Wilson Day and crowds.
